We are pleased to announce our involvement with the Tennessee Aquarium in helping launch their new Serve and Protect Sustainable Seafood Initiative! The program will officially begin following a dinner hosted by celebrity chef Alton Brown at the Tennessee Aquarium today, September 22nd.
The program is geared toward raising awareness of how some species of fish are being over-fished and consumed by far too many people. A step toward sustainability means that people need to diversify the types of seafood being consumed. Americans are guilty of “species targeting,” that is, only eating a few, select types of seafood, particularly salmon, tuna and swordfish. With the support of local restaurants, the Tennessee Aquarium hopes to educate the public in making a conscious decision of what types of fish they consume and how it impacts the world around us. Alchemy Spice Company developed a spice blend that will be given out at the event hosted by Alton Brown to help raise awareness and show our support for the new Serve and Protect program.
