Spiced Apple Butter

Spiced Apple Butter

Featuring our popular Baking & Breakfast Blend, this classic spread, Spiced Apple Butter, is perfect for slathering on a biscuit or served as a sauce with a pork chop. Using balsamic vinegar to add a depth of flavor not found in a typical apple butter, you will find that this recipe becomes one you share with family and friends.  You can make this on the stove top, in a crock pot, or even in the Instant Pot.

Spiced Apple Butter

  • 4 cups, peeled & diced Granny Smith Apples (or mix of favorite apples)
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Alchemy Breakfast & Baking Blend
  • ½ tsp Alchemy Pink Himalayan Salt
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

To make in slow cooker:
Add all ingredients to the slow cooker. Slow cook for 6-8 hours on low. After cooking, remove lid and mash with mixing spoon or puree with immersion blender. Ready to serve. Store in refrigerator. (if using the Instant Pot slow cooking feature: cook on NORMAL setting which is the equivalent of Crockpot LOW)

To make in Instant Pot:
Add 1 cup Apple Cider. Cook on High Pressure for 15 minutes with natural release for 20 minutes before releasing all pressure. Mash completely or puree with an immersion blender. Saute on less for 10 to 15 minutes until liquid is reduced and mixture is thick.
Serve suggestion: biscuits, toast, as a sauce for poultry or pork, or on a cheese board paired with a sharp cheddar, blue, or brie.
